I was checking out the new EasyHook functionality. I tried to launch assaultcube with a server in event-driven mode, it seems the that logs show the process is launched successfully. The Process ID is show on the console, But games is not launched at all and the server simply exits.

I have done an experiment.

I have split launching the game and injecting the ga-hook.dll into two parts.
But there has to be some sort of a problem.

While using CreateProcess I launch the game, and after that I use the following line of code to inject the DLL int i = RhInjectLibrary(procInfo.dwProcessId,0,EASYHOOK_INJECT_DEFAULT,dllpath_w,NULL,NULL,NULL);

I get no error, fine, but the statement where WaitForSingleObject(procInfo.hProcess, INFINITE); should make the program wait. does not work and the program simple exits. I put a while(1) loop before WaitForSingleObject and that forced the program to wait, game to launch but still there no game hook, no server information running, nothing.

The second thing I did was I removed while(1) changed dwProcessId to dwThreadId, the game launched, I got and error code C0000225!

There is something obviously wrong as the functionality. I hope the information helps.

It looks quite strange. We have tested the binary before releasing it and all the test samples in hook mode works, including assaultcube, sauerbraten, limbo, and some directx samples. But the test were done on my computer, which runs Windows 7 64-bit.

With easyhook, it is normal to quit immediately after the process has launched. If your game cannot be launched, you may use the "logfile = c:\path-to-logfile.txt" option to store the logs from GA and reports to the forum.

I am using win7 64 bit too.
But there is no log file created. Which is pretty odd too. I checked the logging, it does not function either. At the moment EasyHook seems to be the culprit.

Today I tried 0.8.0 on another clean installed machine (Win7 32-bit), and it also works well. Take assaultcube for the example. If you launch successfully, you should see logs like the follows. Maybe you can post your configuration to see what's the difference.

BTW, I am working with a portable version of assaultcube. You may need to modify your configuration if you are not working with a portable one.

I am working with Portable version of Assault cube., configs are from trunk that I downloaded. Have you installed any Service Packs for VS2010 or Win7?

My dev platform is Win7 64-bit SP1 with VS2010SP1. However, I don't work with visual studio IDE. Usually I compile the codes using nmake from command line.

The clean test bed is Win7 32-bit SP1. No visual studio is installed. A VC++ 2010 redistributable package is installed.

I have traced down the error to the following point, note that I am using the code that supports x64 builds for win7 x64.

The error seems to be because of failure of SDL.dll loading at ga-hook.cpp for line 93 at the function hook_sdl12()

Probably you haven't supplied the dll in the dependencies package?

I am not sure if your assault cube is 64-bit or 32-bit. If the assault cube is in 32-bit, you should use GA 32-bit instead of 64-bit ... even if you are on a 64-bit host.

I still don't have a clue to this problem. It works well in my environment but not sure what is the major different in your environment. Are you working with a real machine and a GPU?
